a girls best friend + the best ever banana chocolate chip muffins

If you ask any 11-year-old girl who her hero is, I bet you 9 out of 10 times she’ll say her dad!

I can remember waking up before the sun to the sound of my father opening the garage door.  I’d quick hop up to the window with my little light & twist it on & off to get his attention. To my delight he’d flicker h,is headlights at me as he drove up the road. Every time!

I was 11 when I found my passion for baking. My number one supporter was my father (as long as I was baking something with chocolate!) He’d always say something along the lines of…

            “Remember ~ extra chocolate never hurt anyone,”

My father is a pastor, so it’s gotta be true. Right!?

Whenever I failed or succeeded my dad always encouraged me, challenged me, & kept the kitchen stocked! I’d be halfway through a recipe & realize I was out of sugar! My dad would go flying out to the garage & come back with ten pounds. My hero.

For years banana chocolate chip muffins have been his FAVORITE! And I love baking them for him. I add heaping amounts of chocolate chips & extra brown sugar on top. These will disappear in a day. You’d think I’d start doubling the recipe by now!

My father is my best friend.

What can you give to someone who’s already given you so much? You don’t have to be a boss at baking. Sew, build, knit, cook, smile, sing, write, serve, love.

“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.” 1 Peter 4:10

We can’t do it all.

But we can serve with our all.

Whether it’s your mom, brother, neighbor, roommate; whoever you love, show them.
